Versatile Coffee Tables: If you have a smaller room, you may think you don‘t have room for a coffee table. If you choose one that serves multiple purposes, however, you may find certain types of coffee tables can actually be space savers. If storage is an issue, many attractive tables offer lots of extra storage space. Drawers or shelves in coffee tables are great places to keep magazines, the phone book, craft supplies or remote controls. Coffee tables that incorporate baskets are cleverly designed to be attractive yet give you more storage options. These are great places to keep baby toys or your latest knitting project.
Wooden Coffee Tables: Wooden coffee tables have less safety problems as a rule than glass ones; however there are still hazards that can exist. One of the particular dangers commonly encountered is the problem of small children learning to walk who injure themselves on sharp corners. Many baby and parenting shops and even IKEA now sell corner bumpers; small rounded foam or plastic caps that help to prevent injury. Whilst these are not too attractive to look at they are a great way to prevent accidents and only need to be used for a relatively small time whilst your child is in their toddler phase. Similarly there are now "bumpers" available that can be run along the edges of any wooden coffee table. These are heavily padded lengths of material that fix to the surface to prevent injury. They can later be removed when no longer needed.
One romantic author once mentioned how she got all her ideas by watching the open-air cafe across the street to her house. Every day she would see familiar and new couples stroll into the cafe, sit across the coffee table, and get lost in their world. There were those who were obviously testing waters and then there were the older couples who came there again and again.
